Dr. Goh is an assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Texas at Tyler (UT Tyler). Prior to joining UT Tyler, he worked as a senior research associate in the Systems Realization Laboratory at the University of Oklahoma (OU) from 2012 to 2015. He worked for the Korean government after he received his Ph.D. degree at Georgia Institute of Technology in 2002. Dr. Goh has diverse professional experiences, gained throughout 10+ years of industry and academic endeavors. He has published over 30 research papers in international journals and conference proceedings and is the first author of a majority of his refereed published journal papers. His Ph.D. dissertation was the first extension of crystal plasticity finite element method to a fretting fatigue. He highlighted microstructure heterogeneity and plastic ratchetting and provided original insight about the role of friction and wear mechanism in fretting. Dr. Goh is a member of ASME, ASEE, TMS, and the board of directors in the materials and fracture group in the Korean Society of Mechanical Engineers. Dr. Goh’s primary research interests are in virtual design and manufacturing innovation. He is currently committed to innovating at the intersection of design, manufacturing, and materials science and engineering. His teaching interests include design, optimization, CAD/CAM, and manufacturing. Prof Virk completed BSc in electronic and electrical engineering from the University of Manchester in 1977; a PhD in Control Theory, Imperial College, London, 1982; and a Diploma of Imperial College in 1982. He has served as Lecturer, Senior Lecturer and Professor of Control and Robotics and related fields since 1983 in UK, New Zealand, Germany and Sweden. He has been involved in several spin-out commercial ventures with CFM Consultants, Ambient Energy Systems Ltd., Portech Ltd., Endoenergy Systems Ltd., Endoenergy Sweden AB, CLAWAR Association Ltd. and EAS Ltd. Falah Ali is a Reader in Digital Communications at the University of Sussex. He received his BSc and MSc from Cardiff University in 1984 and 1986, respectively, and his PhD from the University of Warwick in 1992. Between1992- 1994 he was a postdoctoral research associate at Lancaster University. In 1994 he joined the University of Sussex as a Lecturer in Electronics Engineering and in 2000 as a Senior Lecturer. He has over 20 years of research experience during which he has led many projects and awarded research funding from the government and industry. He coauthored over 100 papers in various journals and conferences. He served as a member of technical programme committee in several international conferences, and as a co-chair of the Sensornets’14 and PECCS’12. His research interests are in the areas of wireless communications and sensor networks. He is a Fellow of IET, Senior Member of IEEE, and Chartered Engineer.

Professor Zhili Sun was born in China. He obtained a BSc degree in Mathematics from Nanjing University, China in 1982. He worked as a Teaching Assistant in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Southeast University after his graduation. In 1985, the Chinese Ministry of Education awarded him a scholarship to study for a Master Degree in Computer Networks in Lancaster University in UK, and in 1986 he was awarded the Overseas Research Studentship (ORS), the Peel Studentship and Senate Scholarship from Lancaster University in the Department of Computing for his PhD project on Managing Large Scale Distributed Systems. From 1989 to 1993, he worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher in Broadband Communications and Networks in the Department of Electronic Engineering, at Queen Mary, University of London. He joined Surrey in 1993 as a Research Fellow and worked in ATM and Broadband Networks over Satellite with the Centre for Communication Systems Research (CCSR), Department of Electronics, subsequently he became Senior Research Fellow, Lecturer and Reader before being promoted to Professor. Professor Sun is a well recognised leading researcher and expert in the fields of Satellite Networking and Internet Protocols. He has led a research team for many years working as Principal Investigator in a number of research projects. He has published a monograph book titled “Satellite Networking” by John Wiley and over 112 papers in international journals. He has made several contributions to international standards (ITU-T, ETSI and IETF). He has been successful in winning over 17 projects with a total funding of over £2.5m from European Union Framework Programmes (EU FP), European Space Agency (ESA), UK Research Council (EPSRC) and industries. He has also served as Expert Reviewer to audit and review EU projects and government research programmes in UK and Europe. He lectures as module leader and contributor in four course modules at postgraduate and undergraduate levels, and supervises a number of Postdoctoral Research fellows and PhD researchers as well as MSc and undergraduate projects. Professor Sun has served as a member in numerous International Technical Advisory and Planning Committees, has chaired various international conferences, and been invited to give keynote speeches and invited seminars and lectures, as an authority in the satellite networking area. Dr Adel Al-Jumaily is Associate Professor in the University of Technology Sydney. He is holding a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (AI); He is working in the cross-disciplinary applied research area and established a strong track record. He established and led many research groups and delivered many projects, in addition to his contributions in building and extending many laboratories in this area. His research area covers the fields of Computational Intelligence, Bio-Mechatronics Systems, Health Technology and Biomedical, Vision based cancer diagnosing, and Artificial Intelligent Systems. Adel developed a new approach for Electromyogram (EMG) control of prosthetic devices for rehabilitation and contributed to Electroencephalogram (EEG) techniques and signal/image processing, and computer vision. He has successfully developed many modified nature based algorithms to solve the bio-signal/ image pattern recognition problems, such us using swarm based fuzzy discriminate analysis and differential evolution based feature subset selection. He is one of the pioneer researchers in developing many algorithms which proved its advantages in comparison with other algorithms. Many Ph.D. students graduated under his supervision. His research has been recognized through more than 160 peer review publications and the invitations to serve as board editor member for a number of journals and as chair or technical committee member for more than 60 international conferences, He is now Associate Editors-in-Chief of two Journals. Nicolas H Younan is currently the Department Head and James worth Bagley Chair of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Mississippi State University (MSU). Robert S Laramee received a Bachelor’s degree in Physics, from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst (ZooMass). He completed his PhD from Vienna University of Technology (Gruess Gott TUWien), Austria at the Institute of Computer Graphics and Algorithms. He was a Researcher at the VRV is Research Center and a Software Engineer at AVL in the Department of Advanced Simulation Technologies. Currently, he is an Associate Professor in Data Visualizaton at Swansea University (Prifysgol Cymru Abertawe), Wales in the Department of Computer Science (Adran Gwyddor Cyfrifiadur). His research interests are in the areas of big data visualization, visual analytics, and human-computer interaction. He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed papers in scientific conferences and journals and served as Conference Chair of EuroVis, the premiere conference on data visualization in Europe.

Massimo Vecchio's research profile involves the conscious amalgam of the multiple branches and disciplines which in combination have forged it and provide an overarching influence punctuating related professional work. His laurea degree specialization centred on robotics and automation, while his research background focused on computational and artificial intelligence, such as meta-heuristics for global optimization and fuzzy logic. During his Ph.D., his research interests gradually migrated towards power-efficient engineering and application designs for pervasive systems and wireless sensor networks. He spent one and a half years at INRIA-Saclay (France) working as a research engineer in the area of peer-to-peer and pervasive networks. He subsequently joined the Signal Processing Group at the University of Vigo (Spain) as a post-doctoral researcher, again in the wireless sensor network field, but with a more theoretical/mathematical research focus, such as meta-heuristic and stochastic methods for node self-localization, node mobility for efficient data collection and power-aware distributed consensus techniques. Upon his return to Italy in 2012, he joined CREATE-NET (an ICT research centre located in Trento) as a senior researcher of the Smart Internet of Things research group. During his stay at CREATE-NET he has been involved in many national and European projects (FP7 and H2020), until being appointed as Associate Professor at eCampus University, Italy, in 2015. His current research interests include artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things.
